Can you imagine doing one thing every week for 400 weeks in a row? If you're like most people, you can't envision doing anything for that long without missing a single time.
July 2006: Brisbane, Australia
Now imagine if that one thing you're doing every week is publishing an e-zine on writing. One that 16,000 readers eagerly look forward to receiving. A newsletter filled with information and inspiration - with plenty of humour thrown in.
Jennifer Stewart, a freelance writer from Brisbane, Australia has done just that. The 400th issue of The Write Way will be delivered to subscribers in a couple of weeks. The newsletter has been published every Friday morning without a miss for nearly eight years. If you're not among Jennifer's subscribers, you can sign up on her Web site: Write101.com. You can also read the archives of previous issues.
But publishing 400 newsletters and creating and maintaining more than 600 pages of information on "One of the 101 Best Websites for Writers" as judged by Writer's Digest, 2005) wasn't enough for Jennifer. She has also served as a member of the Editorial Board of Your Information Center, a US-based publishing company that brings information to everyone, she\'s edited dozens of e-books, written many great e-books and her articles are archived on sites across the Internet.
From humble beginnings, The Write Way has become one of the longest-running ezines on the Internet. Stewart recalls the first editions that were individually typed and addressed and sent from her email program, \"I\'d sit down and write the newsletter each Friday morning, then copy and paste it into individual emails to send to my 12 subscribers!\"
How times change ... the newsletter now is sent to more than 16,000 subscribers from around the globe. Stewart tries to explain why this newsletter has survived when so many others have failed, \"While there\'s always a writing tip, it\'s never presented like a school lesson. After all, this arrives on a Friday when people are gearing up for the weekend, so we can\'t take ourselves too seriously. And funnily enough, it\'s my rambles and lead-ins that evoke the most positive comments from subscribers.\"
Obviously it\'s a format that works, and one that should keep this writer from Down Under busy every Friday for some time to come!
